Nava (New) Kalebara (Body) is a ceremony in which old deity forms are replaced with new deity forms once in every 12 or 19 years. It is the biggest chariot festival in the world and this year it was attended by over 4 lakh people.
The Gundica mandir is where the Lord arrives at the end of the yatra is ritualistically cleaned by devotees with brooms and pots of water on the previous day.
Lord Baladeva ratha (red/green, 44ft 14 wheels) , Devi Subhadra ratha (red/black, 43ft 12 wheels), Lord Jagannath ratha (red/yellow, 45ft 16 wheels).
Lord Baladeva’s ratha followed by Devima Subhadra in succession..
Time stood still while awaiting Devima Subhadra’s chariot.
